obCommerce is now being built as a totally new project. Rather than attempting to update the old osCommerce code this new project will be based on the ultra modern and capable Zend Framework. Initially the target is to replicate the core functionality of osCommerce then to move on from this basis to what should be a highly attractive offering in the online shopping cart market.

Early days but I will be updating this site now on a regular(ish) basis.

Back in 2008 I thought to convert the front end of osCommerce to more modern code removing deprecated long arrays, bringing the variables into more protected object scope and a host of other changes including a simple template system. It all worked very well but there was little interest and I didn't actively seek users so it fell by the wayside.

Although it worked it really turned out to be a coding exercise as opposed to something really new and exciting so obCommerce has lain dormant for over a year. Until now.
